Craft & Crop at the Bird House

I finally fished the craft we will be doing on March 23 at my home. Here it is. I found this lovely little basket over at preciousscraps.blogspot.com. Designed by Claire Brennan in 2009. She also has a blog waltzingmouse.blogspot.com

You can go there and see hers, I have changed mine up a little to fit my needs and tools I have available. I used a pattern that she provided along with Plantin Schoolbook Cricut cartridge and Flower Shoppe Cricut Projects cartridge. I used my favorite Martha Stewart punch for the yellow part where the basket sits in and a nesting die from Spellbinders to make the pretty yellow base that it all sits on. With Planting schoolbook I cut the circles and used a Fiskar hand punch to cut the scalloped circles. You could do that with a cricut cartridge also. I used a pair of Fiskar pinking sheers to make the zig zag pattern in the inner basket piece and the larger strip for the handle

The flowers come with a hole in the center when you cut them out so you can layer them with a brad. I had some large brads with a colored rhinestone in the center

Here are the two cartridges I used. Plantin Schoolbook is one of my most used because it has a basic font and most of the common shapes such as circles oval square rectangle etc. I have used Flower Shoppe quite a few times for the cool flowers you can make.

I really love this craft and was so glad to find it. Thanks to Claire Brennan I am able to share it with my friends at Craft & Crop at the Bird House.

Craft and Crop at the Bird House

Here is our first page for the craft and crop at the Bird's house.

I used a rabbit from one of my favorite websites for kids crafts call Dltk. I put a picture frame where the belly would go. I used some different glitter paper and incorporated this though out the two pages.

I cut the quote "Somebunny loves you" using my Cricut Font cartridge "Jasmine"cutting the letters in the center of ovals at 2". Then I used shadow to frame it once and cut another frame by adding 1/4 inch larger in size.
On the second page, I found a sweet Easter prayer shaped like an Easter egg. I went to Pinterest and found an Easter card with the backside of a bunny and a quote "Stop and smell the Jelly Beans!" I used foam squres here and there to give it a 3-D effect. Then I added lots of jelly beans. I had a blast creating these pages for you.

Craft & Crop projects for March

Here is the card we will be creating for our Craft & Crop at my house.

This is another recycle project. I had purchased some wedding invitations from Walmart 2 years ago. 50 of them for $8.00. I simply used my Martha Stewart scoring board and folded them in half. I used the Event Cartridge "Wedding Shower" and cut the decorative pink card shape that was there. I cut it 1/4 inch smaller in white and then used my Texture Boutique and a Swiss dot patterned folder and textured it. I printed "Have a Blessed Easter" and then used a Fiskar paper punch to punch out the quote and then used a ink pad around the edges. I used a simple desk paper punch to make two holes next to each other and ran the lace ribbon through them and tied a bow. Then I used my Cricut again and Plantin Schoolbook cartridge and cut the different shape flowers and the leaves out of scraps of paper. Then I added some green peal stickers left over from our St. Patrick's Day page to accent the center of some of the flowers. The eggs came from Doodlecharm cartridge. I used a line patterned glitter paper for the eggs so they would have a pretty pattern when they were cut.
So, the lace ribbon, the flowers, the pearl stickers, the card base, the ink pad were all left over items from other craft projects recycled to create a new one. Remember to always check out the clearance section of the stores you shop at. I have used these wedding cards for multiple projects and still have enough to use again and again. Save all your left over paper scraps and any embellishments you have not used, there will come a time.
Hope you enjoyed this card, you know I love making them. I will post the pages for March as soon as I create them. I have a couple of cute ideas I will be incorporating into your new pages.

New Direction for "Craft & Crop"

For those of you who have been patiently waiting to hear what is going to happen to our beloved "Craft & Crop" we were holding at Jo-Ann's, they have decided it did not meet with their approval. So, let me know if you would like to continue with it and meet at my house once a month. I had a few ladies meet at my house during the remodel of the store last year and we had a blast. The only difference would be no shopping. But, I will provide the same fun scrapbook pages, card and craft that we have done for the last 2 years. I need to hear from you though and see what your feelings are on the idea. We would still meet one Saturday evening each month only not as many spots would be available. The first one would be scheduled for March 23.  I love all the times we have met and crafted together, all the great food we have shared and getting to know all of you. I hope we can continue meeting.
